Open Spring to Fall

Alaska is spectacular year-round, but your adventure will vary depending on when you visit.

Pursuit’s seasonal lodging properties across Denali, Talkeetna and Seward typically open in spring and close in early to mid-September. Our premier Seward experience, Kenai Fjords Tours, opens in early spring, with tours running through the end of September.

Spring

Also known as “breakup,” spring in Alaska brings a slow and steady return of light and life. Kenai Fjords Tours' season begins as gray whales re-emerge in Resurrection Bay. March and April are also prime time for aurora viewing in Talkeetna, with manageable temperatures and dark night skies.

Summer

Summer is the Last Frontier’s peak season. Wildflowers bloom in Denali, marine life is active off the coast of Seward and just about everything is open, including the remote Denali Backcountry Lodge and Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge. During Alaska’s summers, the days are long and the adventures are endless.

Fall

Fall offers the opportunity to explore a quieter, wilder Alaska. Autumn foliage transforms the landscapes in Denali National Park and Talkeetna as crowds disappear and locals prepare for winter. Kenai Fjords Tours run until the end of September, with most of Alaska’s other seasonal businesses closing around the same time.
