Kenai Fjords National Park attracts visitors from around the globe to discover picturesque peaks, vibrant blue glaciers and iconic marine wildlife. Want to stay a little longer and experience more? You'll find your perfect three-day adventure on Fox Island.

Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge is an island getaway like no other. This remote and remarkable Fox Island resort offers private waterfront cabins with gorgeous views of Halibut Cove, plus gourmet meals, expert-guided excursions and endless opportunities to explore.

While your trip may only last three days, the memories made will last a lifetime.

Day One: Sailing To Fox Island

There’s no other way to access Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge except by boat. And getting here is an adventure all its own.

A boat cruises across the sea alongside tree-covered mountains.

Arrive aboard Kenai Fjords Tours' Resurrection Bay Tour, departing from Seward, Alaska, at 12:30 p.m. daily. While you cruise, keep your eyes on the skies to spot some of the birds that make the bay their home, including bald eagles and horned puffins, along with sea otters and Dall’s porpoises in the waters below.

Arrive by early afternoon at Fox Island, where the escape from daily life truly begins. You'll be greeted at the dock by a team member, who will escort you down the beach for a quick orientation and a delicious chef-prepared lunch. You'll stay in one of eight waterfront cabins, offering accommodation far from life's usual hustle and bustle.

Once you're settled, stop by the main lodge for afternoon tea or a pre-dinner "Drinks & Thinks" session, where you'll sip local spirits and learn about the beauty of your surroundings from a naturalist host.

Dinner is served in the main lodge, featuring gourmet, locally inspired dishes. Spend the remainder of your evening mingling with fellow adventurers, relaxing in your cabin or — conditions permitting — enjoying a shoreside fire.

Day Two: Immerse Yourself In Wilderness

Consider yourself an early bird? Start your day with yoga in the main lodge. Then enjoy a full breakfast while overlooking the shoreline.

The rest of the morning is yours to define! Set a reminder to be back for lunch, then choose your own adventure depending on how you're feeling.

Free Time

Feeling active? Seasoned hikers can take on the challenging Fox Island trail for an excellent bird's-eye view. Or you can borrow a paddleboard or canoe to explore the island's lagoon.

Looking to relax? Unwind in the wood-fired saunas, spot wildlife from the main lodge with complimentary binoculars or cozy up and read by the fire.

After enjoying lunch at the lodge, your afternoon will be spent exploring by paddle-power with Sunny Cove Kayaking (included with your stay). If you’re lucky, you may even spot a sea lion or humpback whale — both of which are known to make appearances around the island.

Return in time to freshen up in your cabin before planning the rest of your evening. Head back to the lodge for another "Drinks & Thinks" session before dinner. If you're looking to squeeze a bit more fun into your day, stick around the lodge for "Paint and Sip" to put some of your adventures onto the canvas.

Day Three: Depart In Style

Wake up to yoga and breakfast again before beginning your journey back to Seward. Depart aboard the 9:15 a.m. Northwestern Fjord Tour, where a whole new adventure awaits.

This trip isn't just transportation — it’s an unforgettable eight-hour cruise through some of the planet’s most spectacular scenery. Visit the Northwestern Fjord — a natural destination unlike any other — watch for wildlife and get up-close to massive shoreside glaciers. Leave the fjords refreshed and inspired from your time on the island and beyond.
