Sunny Cove Sea Kayaking offers an opportunity for those looking for an active adventure to combine both hiking and sea kayaking. Your all day tour begins with a narrated van ride through Seward on your way to Lowell Point. Enjoy hearing the history and seeing the beauty along the way. Once arriving in Lowell Point for outfitting and kayak instruction, your group will paddle the shoreline of Caines Head State Recreation Area. As you kayak quietly, surrounded by mountains and glacial vistas, all will be on the watch for a wide variety of wildlife, including sea otters, sea lions, porpoise, eagles and sea birds.
You will land mid-day and enjoy a picnic lunch shore side before beginning to hike to a beautiful hidden waterfall or Fort McGilvray, for an overview of Resurrection Bay.
This outdoor adventure includes up to 10 miles of kayaking and 5 miles of hiking with a 650 foot elevation gain. All of Sunny Cove Kayaking’s trips are fully guided and use stable and efficient tandem (two-person) kayaks, allowing both novices and aspiring experts to kayak comfortably.
Meet the Sunny Cove shuttle van at their office located at 1304 4th Ave, Seward, AK. – Their shuttle will take you to Lowell Point for your tour.
